BAYEK SHIELD, BOW & ARROWS

The bow, arrows, and shield were all quickly compiled for our desert photo shoot in the spring of 2018. Using an old technique I had learned for my fan films, I made the bow by heat forming PVC pipe, scoring it with a file for texture, and painting it to look like wood. The arrows were made from dowel rods, fake feathers that I cut in half, and stone arrow heads. They were all attached with synthetic sinew for an authentic look. The shield was a cheap Achilles-inspired shield meant for Halloween that I used waxed-based bronze paint on to sell the ancient look. They came out great despite how quickly they were constructed and helped really pull the costume together. If you want to watch the photo shoot this was a part of, you can check that out here.
